My picks for July...

2005 Pieve di Santa Restituta, Brunello di Montalcino, Angelo Gaja
In a nutshell: it possess all attributes I adore about Italian wines. Balanced nose of fruit, earth, spice, roses… on the palate complex and continuing to evolve during the dinner.
A perfect wine for a right occasion. (93 pts)

2003 Chateau Clinet, Pomerol
Ripe blackcurrant fruits and spices on the nose. On the palate not very havy, elegant, retrained and fine structure and balance. One of the best 2003 Pomerol I had.(89 pts)

2000 Louis Jadot, Clos de Loyse, Château des Jacques, Blanc, Bourgogne
Vanilla, delicious, alive. Quite impressive. (85 pts)

2003 Viña Cono Sur Pinot Noir 20 Barrels, Chile
Ruby color, cherry, earthiness, leather. Outstanding balance and perfect mach for the food. (88 pts)

1998 Château Haut Marbuzet, Saint-Estèphe
Structured, silky, affectionate... (92 pts)

2004 Les Plantiers du Haut-Brion, Bordeaux, Pessac-Léognan
Smooth, silky and rich. Fantastic balance. The fact that this is only an entry level white Bordeaux... well it makes this wine simply amazing. (91 pts)

My picks for February...

2004 Remelluri Bianco, Rioja, Spain
Gold color, a mineral flavors and some tropic fruits on the nose. Quite complex and with several layer on the palate. Very nice acidity and yet with silky texture. Smoky, nutty, lychee and great minerality. This is memorable wine with a gorgeous finish. (90 pts)

2007 Clos del Portal 'Negre de Negres', Priorat, Spain
Dark read with reach nose on black fruits, meat and oak. Quite juicy with lovely balance and nice acidity. Chocolate, oak, spices... having in mind the modes price (compared to other Priorat)... very impressive. (88 pts)

2001 Château Saint-Bric, Saint-Emilion, Grand Cru
Brownish read, with some sweet nose, oak, spices... red fruits on the palate with light spices and oak. Well integrated tannins. (86 pts)

My picks for January...
I guess you're bored with suggestions for Christmas wines for every occasion and every budget... So, I've waited for January to come ;-)

2006 Chateau Kamnik, Ten Barrels, Cabernet, Macedonia
Deep ruby, ripe black fruits, game, mocha... very complex. Full boded, perfectly balanced, with ripe and silky tannins. Gorgeous long finish... Drinks very well now but will develop even more complexity, so keep. (93 pts)

2004 Umathum, Blaufränkisch, Austria
Smooth with some chocolate. Odd in taste but elegant and very pure. (89-90 pts)

2005 Antinori Tignanello, Tuscany
Ruby with some serious aromas of spices and tobacco. Excellent balance, well structured but somewhat too jammy on the palate. Big vine with a pleasant and long finish. Probably to young so I'll check it once more in about couple of years. (89 pts)

My picks for December...
This is my wine picks for December.

2001 Château Moulinet, Pomerol
Ruby with brownish rim, ripe black fruits and mocha. It also have some earthy/farm note. Medium boded, very silky on the plate and well balanced. Again some ripe black fruits, nice and ripe tannins and very long and enjoyable finish ending with liquorice. Very nice and looking forward to see how it will develop in a few years. (88 pts)

2000 Les Pelerins de Lafon-Rochet, St. Estèphe
Dark red, with intense aromas of cedar, spice, coffee, chocolate, and plum. Full boded, dense wine, with fruit and creamy texture. Well balanced, sweet and rich. Long nutty/chewy (tannins) finish. (89 pts)

1999 Réserve de la Comtesse, Pauillac
Darkish read, woody-spicy on nose with some smoky, cedar. Medium bodied and well balanced but not very long. Nice claret bouquet bouquet. Drink up. (88 pts)

This is my wine picks for November.

2007 Domaine du Vieux Télégraphe, Châteauneuf du Pape
It is all about red fruit, wax, some smoke... a beauty on the palate. Very strong tannins and needs probably some 15 - 20 year and I'm looking forward to it (91 pts.)

2006 Bandol Domaine de la Bastide Blanche
Kind of blockbuster wine but very special. With dark espresso nose, quite and... well enigmatic. Long finish ending very dry. Changeling vine and quite different from what I've tasted so far. Superb value and I'm definitely going to explore Bandol reds (88 pts.)

2001 Château La Fleur Tressac
Pleasant and friendly, but lacking real complexity. (84 pts.)

2002 La Fleur de Haut-Bages Libéral
Eye: Dark red
Nose: Chocolate, dark fruits, earthy...
Palate: Rich with creamy texture, still very fresh.
Finish: Long and pleasant.
Decanted: 0 - 90 minutes
Note: Superb value. (90 pts.)

2001 Château Les Hauts de Pontet-Canet
Eye: Dark red
Nose: Oak, cheddar, woody-spicy...
Palate: Mineral , firmly structured, with ripe tannins. Good and fresh acidity.
Finish: Long
Decanted: 0 - 60 minutes
Note: Excellent, classic Pauillac, although not very complex. (89 pts.)

1999 Château Coutet Chatreuse de Coutet
Very nice on the nose, good level of botrytis. Quince, acacia notes, moderate sweetness on the palate, some smoky character. (87 pts.) This has been paired with...

foie gras et tartuffe... Thanks Dame :-)

This is my wine picks for September.

2006 Sebastien Riffault Sancerre Rouge Raudonas
Eye: Somewhat light read
Nose: Ripe, very nice and spicy...
Palate: Ripeness, acidity, minerals and spices...
Finish: Not so long but very nice and refreshing.
Decanted: -
Note: This is my first red from Sancerre, it is amazing Pinot Noir and I'll look for more. (87 pts.)

2006 Laurence Féraud Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Eye: Dark red
Nose: Ripe black fruits, strong pepper and alcohol. Alcohol notes vanished with air after 10-15 minutes...
Palate: Vibrant and very precise cigar box, black pepper. Rounded, silky....
Finish: Long and strange(in a positive way).
Decanted: -
Note: Very nice effort (89 pts.)

2001 Domaine des Bosquets Gigondas
Eye: Dark red
Nose:Grenache aromas with dust and spice...
Palate: Fresh and well balanced.
Finish: Medium
Decanted: -
Note: Excellent food wine (87 pts.)

My picks for August...
It’s August... and unfortunately weather in Copenhagen is not sun, fun and barbecues...
However, it's always a good time for a glass of wine, whether it’s a red, or a rosé, and especially when in good company during a lovely "summer" evening.
This is my wine picks for August.

2006 Domaine Tempier Bandol Rosé
Eye: Salmon color
Nose: Ripe melon, peach...
Palate: Fresh acidity, minerals and spices... perfectly balanced. At the beginning has felt bit frizzante, but this vanished after 10 minutes or so.
Finish: Long, lush, spiced finish.
Decanted: - (88 pts.)

2005 Arnaud Ente Bourgogne Blanc
Eye: Yellow
Nose: Reach, pear, touch of oak...
Palate: Medium-bodied, balanced and oily like. Perfect acidity, cream, pear, oak... Very elegant, precise and delicious. Seducer.
Finish: Very long and pleasant with mineral tones.
Decanted: -
Note: Delicious white Burgundy (89 pts.)

2003 Giuseppe e Figlio Mascarello Barolo Santo Stefano di Perno
Eye: Ruby
Nose: Blackberry, cherries, tar, earthy (porcini mushrooms)
Palate: Delicious, aromatic flowers, cedar, smoke... Complex and elegant.
Finish: Long and wonderful.
Decanted: 60 - 90 minutes
Note: Amazing wine and it's probably the best Barolo I've ever tasted (92 pts.)
