The restaurant is situated at the former Café Ketchup, which brings me a memories of a good time spend there; one of the best cocktails and funky parties ;-)This is a sister restaurant of Madklubben and Anders Aagaard Jensen respond to MASH.What we had:
Striploin steak...
biff's steak. In short, one can have a very good wines, especially California Cabs with a low markups, but unfortunately, I'm not very impressed by the food. This (first class) steaks comes from the Rocky Mountains, but it is waggly comparable with other first class steaks I've had chances to taste. Good part is, this is reflected in the price; you get a bill for half price compared for example with MASH.Is this worthy of trying? Yes, and book late (from 19.30 to 21) so you can keep the table as long as you wish.Rating: 7.2 (out of 10.0)Madklubben SteakPilestræde 23Copenhagen K 1147Denmark
I try to avoid Bredgade street as much as possible during the summer period, probably same as most Copenhageners (although I'm an adopted Copenhagener after few years in the city).

This time I've been tempted by the gossip for the best steaks in Denmark.

MASH is with a contemporary interior design and tasteful stylish elements. One can imaging setting in a top notch New York eatery…
What we had:

Danish ribeye dry aged with bearnaise sauce, creamy spinach and green salad.

Dry aged in 90 days… tender and unique woody flavor and perfect melt-in-your-mouth sensuality.

American N.Y Strip from greater Omaha with chili fries and garlic and thyme jus; as tender as you can imagine.
This have been pared perfectly with a glass of following wines:

Château de Beaucastel 2000, Chateauneuf-du-Pape
Eye: Deep dark red, still youthful.
Nose: Ripe cherry, reach, chocolate…
Palate: Deliciously and complex with great rounded acidity.
Finish: Very long and well defined.
Decanted: -
Note: Perfect wine for perfect dish. (88 pts.)

Spottswoode Lyndenhurst 2005, Napa
Quite in control and not as opulent as I have expected. Good acidity and excellent match for the dish. (83 pts.)
And the star of the day:

D'Oliveiras Madeira Reserva 1968, Boal
Caramel, toast, nuts… simply amazing…
The food has a culinary excellence, and it is beyond ordinary experience.
Everyone’s heard the stories about Kobe beef and here; one can taste something really comparable.
MASH is a lovely and is reasonable priced restaurant; not cheap, but absolutely justified. Dinner including wine, followed by Madeira, will set you back about 100€ per person. Don't miss this one as it always makes for an interesting night out.

My next hop had me staying 1 night in Kobe, the Beef Capital. My hotel was close to the "Shin-Kobe" station where I've arrived by Shinkansen (Bullet Train). Emi already made reservation at "Grill de Kobe", where the highest grades (A5 and A4) of Kobe beef is available. Beef are grilled over a charcoal flame and I guess this is the best way to experience Kobe beef.By the way, I guess everyone heard the stories of the luxury lives of the Kobe cows: the massage, the beer...

The restaurant is not very big, but it has a cozy and warm atmosphere and the smell was absolutely... well inviting. I've got an English menu because the number of foreigners living in Kobe is substantial; nevertheless I still had a big question mark above my head how and what to order. After an extensive consultation with Emi, I've made a conscious decision :-D
I had a Kobe beef plate (from the upper left) eggplant pomodoro, okra, potato and corns, pickles of yam, radish, paprika, (middle) Kobe beef stake (special filet) with watercress and garlic chips. As I looked for wine matches, I was playing with the idea of a beef with an Bordeaux, but finally I went for the Barolo. I was pleasantly surprised to find that they had Chateau Margaux on the wine list. And my conclusion is: nothing tastes like it! The way it melts in your mouth, juiciness and moist is unbelievable. The wine earthiness, some spicy tar, fresh tannins with a long finish and the elegant texture worked perfectly and sent me into ecstasy.
For about about 120€ per person, including wine, it is definitely place worth visiting! I hope next time I'll have a chance to taste Matsuzaka, as there are rumors that it is even more delicious than Kobe beef!Rating: 9.0 (out of 10.0)Grille de KobeTaishin Sunset Bldg. 5F,2-5-1 Kita Nagasa-dori,Chuo-ku, Kobe-shiHyogo 650-0012
